Help each other. Learn how to accept given help and ask for help. You’ll find out that when you ask for help there’s a lot of people around you willing to help but thought you didn’t need it because it seemed like you have everything under control. When you say you don’t know how to do this, I’m stuck, I’m scared. I don’t think I can do this. you’ll find that lots of people that love you will rush in and take care of you. But that will only happen if you take care of them first. They will find you and they will help you. Story: Marines what kind of person makes it through to be a marine? Answer not the strong guy, not the smartguy. Some that make it through ar scronny but can ways find a burst of energy to help someone the guy next to them.
Nelson mandella is universally regarded as a great leader. When asked how did you become a great leader? Father was a tribe leader and he would attend tribal meeting. 2 things, always sit in a circle and father would always be the last to speak.
In boardrooms leader somes in shares problem, opinion, then asks for other opinions. It’s already too late. Hold opinions to yourself until everyone has spoken does 2 things:
- gives everyone feeling they have been heard, like they have contributed.
- you get to hear people’s actual opinions The skill is to keep your opinions to yourself. If you agree with someone, don’t nod yes. If you disagree, don’t nod no. All you should do is ask questions and understand where they are speaking from. Understand why they have the opinion they have not just what they are saying. Practice being the last to speak is what Nelson mendella did
Former secretary of state. At conference. Last year I was at this conference and everything was set up,: travel, hotel, coffee.
This year flew coach, took taxi, asked for coffee and pours own coffee. The ceramic cup was never for me. It was for the position I held. I deserve a styrafoam cup.
As you gain game, fortune, position and seniority: people will treat you better. None of that stuff is for you. That stuff is for the position you hold. No mater what level you achieve, you will always deserve a styraphome cup.
Remember humility and gratitude. You can accept all perks and free stuff and Enjoy them. But, know that they are not for you.
