- lightbulbs that lasted forever were created but companies noticed less and less sales. It was decided that lightbulbs only last 1000 hours. Companies producing lightbulbs that lasted longer were fined.
- Nylon fabric, a long lasting fabric scared a lot of people because it could put people out of work if things lasted forever
- To make things feel new, companies change design/fashion of the product
- planned obsolescence should only be done for technological improvements
