Smartphone Password Managers
Password managers
- Google authenticator & chrome password manager vs Microsoft authenticator
- getting to the password manager on Google is harder than using the Microsoft password manager on iOS & Google
- on iOS & Android for Google to view passwords you have to open chrome, go to settings, go to password manager
- on iOS and Android for Microsoft authenticator you just click Microsoft authenticator
- auto fill: on Android they both work comparably when presented a password field. However, on iOS, since Microsoft is a separate app when on safari I only notice Microsoft authenticator giving password auto fills.
Fot the actual authenticator part:
- Microsoft authenticator can transfer only android to android or iOS to iOS. This is because on Android they use Microsoft cloud as the backup storage and use iCloud on iOS as the backup storage.
- Google authenticator works across devices. You can add Google authenticator as a 2factor on Android and you’ll see it on iOS and vice versa.
I use both passwords managers. But from what I’m seeing using Microsoft authenticator for passwords is better & using Google authenticator is better.
